Court rejects challenge to legal prohibition of assisted suicide.

The High Court has rejected an appeal for legalisation of assisted suicide

The High Court has rejected an appeal against Section 2 of the 1961 Suicide Act, under which it is unlawful to encourage or assist the suicide of another person.  The Court ruled that, after Parliament’s clear rejection of legalised assisted suicide in 2015, it would be inappropriate for the Court to re-open the matter.
