Private Member's Bill seeks to ensure equal access to palliative care for all who need it

Baroness Finlay's Access to Palliative Care Bill is expected to have its Second Reading in the House of Lords in October.  Prepared and presented by a Peer with nearly 30 years experience of caring for terminally ill people the bill places upon clinical commissioning groups a responsibility to ensure that specialist palliative care services are made available to those who need them in their own homes, in hospitals, in hospices, in care homes and elsewhere.  The bill also provides for direct admission of people with palliative care needs to hospice beds and for support to be given to those who are caring forpeople with palliative care needs.
